How to Add an Email Signature in New Outlook (Windows)

Microsoft released a redesigned Outlook app for Windows in 2024 with a new interface and a different settings structure. If your Outlook looks like a web browser tab with a simplified ribbon, you're using New Outlook. Here's how to add your signature.

Before you start

You'll need a signature to paste. Already have one? Skip to step 1.

Step-by-step setup

1
Open the New Outlook app. Click the gear icon in the top-right corner of the window to open the Settings panel.
2
In the Settings panel, click "Accounts" in the left sidebar.
3
Under Accounts, click "Signatures". You'll see an option to create and manage signatures.
4
Click "New signature". Give your signature a name.
5
In DropSig, click "Copy Signature" to copy your formatted signature.
6
Click in the signature editing area and paste (Ctrl+V). Note that New Outlook has more limited HTML rendering than Outlook desktop — keep your design simple for best results.

Pro tip: New Outlook's signature editor is closer to the web version. Avoid complex CSS. Simple text + logo + links work best.

7
Use the dropdowns to set your signature as the default for new emails and replies. Click Save.

Common issues

Can't find the Signatures option

Make sure you're using New Outlook (not the classic desktop app). If you see a traditional ribbon with File/Home/Send/Receive tabs, you're in classic Outlook — see our Outlook 365 guide instead.

Formatting looks broken in New Outlook

New Outlook has limited HTML support. Stick to basic formatting: no custom fonts, no background colors. Use one of DropSig's simpler templates for this client.

Signature not saving

Make sure you click Save after editing. New Outlook occasionally requires a restart to apply signature changes — close and reopen the app if the signature doesn't appear.
